Two Scientists, One Shared Mission

Sometimes great ideas are born in the most unexpected places. For myBioma, it was Ghana, where Dr. Barbara Sladek and Dr. med. univ. Nikolaus Gasche spoke about the importance of the microbiome. Barbara was travelling at the time, while Nikolaus was completing a hospital placement. Both were fascinated by how strongly the gut microbiome influences our health and how little awareness there is of it.

Back in Vienna, those conversations grew into a clear vision. In 2018, the two founded myBioma with the goal of making gut health understandable and accessible to everyone. From the very beginning, they combined scientific curiosity with a genuine desire to create real change. Today, a team of 26 experts works to put this knowledge into practice and show that health truly begins in the gut.

Between Laboratory, Logistics and Passion

As with many young companies, the early days of myBioma were shaped by intense groundwork and major decisions. One of the biggest challenges was convincing investors of their vision while building the foundations needed to bring the product to market. The team had to develop every process themselves, from producing the test kits to shipping them and analysing the samples in the laboratory.

The logistics behind the test kits proved especially demanding. Each kit carries an individual code linked to a specific sample, meaning every step had to be perfectly coordinated, from dispatch to the evaluation of results. During this phase, it became clear that a specialised solution was needed in the long term to maintain quality and efficiency while creating space for growth.

How Quivo Supports myBioma’s Growth

As myBioma continued to grow, it quickly became clear that efficiency was essential for the company’s success. Its online shop on Shopify forms the heart of the business. Connected to both laboratory and CRM systems, it ensures that orders, sample entries and result reports are processed automatically and securely.

With increasing demand, however, it also became evident that logistics required a specialised solution. At first, myBioma shipped its test kits manually to understand every step in detail. Over time, it became clear that a professional partner was needed to maintain quality and scalability as the business expanded.

The team found the ideal partner in Quivo. The locations in Germany allow for fast delivery times and central access to customers across Europe. Through Quivo’s in-house logistics software, the Quivo Connector, myBioma always has full visibility of incoming goods, stock levels and shipments.

“Since starting our collaboration, we have significantly increased our efficiency. Order dispatch is now much faster, and at the same time, we have gained complete transparency over inventory and processes. This has freed up capacity to focus even more on innovation, growth and customer service,” says Nikolaus, co-founder of myBioma.

“We firmly believe that the future of medicine and health lies in understanding the gut microbiome. With strong partners like Quivo by our side, we can turn this vision into reality – scientifically grounded, sustainable and close to people.”

The Heart of myBioma

myBioma’s microbiome tests are at the core of the company and the key to a deeper understanding of health. They combine cutting-edge DNA sequencing with machine learning to reveal what usually remains unseen. Each analysis shows how unique every gut microbiome is and which factors influence personal wellbeing.

What makes the tests special is the combination of scientific precision and ease of use. Customers receive well-founded results that are clearly explained and easy to integrate into everyday life. In this way, complex research becomes a practical tool for healthier living.

myBioma now offers three different test options, each providing varying levels of insight into the microbiome. All are based on proprietary machine learning models and represent the highest level of scientific quality.

  • Anyone who wants to better understand their microbiome and actively support their health can find all tests, along with a range of great gut health products, in the myBioma online shop.

A Pioneer in Gut Health

Since its founding, myBioma has achieved a great deal and has taken the topic of gut health to a new level. The team is especially proud of the continued development of its microbiome tests, which today provide even deeper and more personalised insights. Building a strong, interdisciplinary team has also been a key milestone along the way.

Looking ahead, myBioma aims to reach even more people and raise awareness that true health begins in the gut. New products focused on gut health are already in development, always with the goal of bringing science and wellbeing even closer together. At Quivo, we are proud to support myBioma in this important mission!
