Between Skateboards and System Critique

It all started with a small skate shop in Linz. Klaus Buchroithner took over the business from his brother and quickly gained an unvarnished view behind the scenes of the fashion industry. "The big players dictate prices and quality and small retailers get left behind," he reports. Instead of accepting this, Klaus turned everything upside down. He wanted to produce himself – fairly, transparently and on equal terms with all parties involved.

In 2012, this led to the creation of the fair fashion label Vresh, which specializes in sustainable clothing made in Europe. Five years later, Das Merch was born, an offering for companies seeking high-quality team apparel. And the mission behind it? Clear: to create fair jobs, live transparent supply chains and take textile responsibility seriously.

Eight Years of Hard Work

The road to success was long – and quite rocky. In the early years, entrepreneurship for Klaus and his team mainly meant experimenting, persevering, and sticking with it. Instead of focusing on short-term profits, every euro was reinvested into the company, in better materials, fair production, and the development of stable structures. "For eight years, we barely made any profit. It was tough, but it was worth it," Klaus reflects looking back.

A particularly defining period was the search for the right production partner. The expectations were nothing short of fair conditions, transparent processes, and collaboration on equal terms. And, of course, that’s easier said than done! After numerous attempts, they finally found the right fit in Portugal – with a family business that now produces exclusively for Das Merch with 15 employees.

In 2016, the first investment came in, bringing fresh momentum, and with the first million in revenue in 2020, it became clear that the path they had chosen was the right one. Today, the six-person team is based in the old Tobacco factory in Linz, working with a healthy dose of idealism towards their shared goal of setting sustainable impulses in the fashion industry.

Our Fabric Is Attitude

Das Merch makes decisions where it counts. That means with the people they work with and in what they produce. The textiles are made in a Portuguese family business that Klaus and his team know well. They visit regularly, collaborate, and plan together. The partnership is built on mutual respect, not distance.

Their core mission is to create 1,000 fair jobs. Das Merch aims to prove that business success and social responsibility can go hand in hand and build a functioning, stable bridge between these two worlds.

"We believe that economic success works better when all parties are treated well," Klaus is convinced. And because good products shouldn't only be available to larger companies, they’ve now introduced "Click&Ship". This allows smaller businesses to order high-quality merchandise directly from as little as 20 pieces, without having to compromise on their standards.

Klaus von das Merch
Klaus Founder

"Quivo impressed us primarily with their flexibility and understanding of our needs. For us, it is crucial that our logistics partner shares our values. Transparent communication, the ability to scale quickly, and ensuring high delivery quality were especially important to us."

Logistics That Grows With Us

The more things progressed at Das Merch, the clearer it became how important smooth operations behind the scenes are. The team wanted to focus on what really matters to them: developing textiles, working with producers, and providing great advice to customers. For logistics, they needed someone who could handle it professionally.

With Quivo, a solution quickly emerged that not only worked practically but also felt like a good fit on a human level. Trust in the partnership was there from the start, partly because Klaus had known the founders, Christoph and Georg, even before their company was established. So far, the team has used our practical "Send it yourself" solution, but soon, part of the orders will be shipped directly through our automated fulfillment. Without much effort, but with the same care that Das Merch puts into its products!

Digital Tools That Pave the Way

Das Merch uses digital systems where they make everyday tasks easier. Shopify is in use, but not as the central sales tool, rather, it complements their own solutions. The focus is on a self-developed configurator and Hubspot as the CRM. This allows for better management of inquiries and structuring of processes, without losing the personal touch.

Technological innovation is also a key focus: In the long term, part of the consulting process will be supported by AI. This allows more time for what truly matters. Especially for custom products, it's crucial to respond quickly and clearly. The ability to directly configure designs and link them to production not only saves time but also avoids misunderstandings.

Klaus sums it up: "Our customers want to make their values visible. That's why we continuously improve our tools."

Good Clothing Speaks for Itself

Das Merch makes textiles that feel just right! From hoodies to socks, every item is crafted with great care and experience. Many who order for the first time say they didn’t expect such high quality. For the team around Klaus, this is the best compliment they could get.

The range includes everything that companies and their employees love to show off and wear: T-shirts, sweaters, socks, even sneakers. Everything can be customized. To get an impression, it's best to check out the shop directly:

What We Want to Wear Tomorrow

A lot is happening at Das Merch right now. New materials are being tested, ideas for a sports collection are on the table, and the German market is becoming a bigger focus. Still, the pace is deliberately measured. Better to take it step by step than to rush in all directions at once.

What defines the growing company can’t be reduced to a single product. It’s the way things are done here. Transparent, with conviction, and with a vision of the bigger picture. That’s also what makes us at Quivo proud of our collaboration. Klaus sums it up perfectly:

"Sustainability is not a trend. It’s an investment in the future. For our company, for the people in the supply chain, and for our planet."
