Katie g. and her vision

“We love jewelry, and after many years as unhappy employees, we wanted to take control of our own happiness,” says Georg, co-founder of the company and husband of the eponymous jewelry maker and artist Katie Gruber.

Their vision was “to create a company that we are 100% behind, that operates sustainably and simply makes great pieces with integrity.” They wanted to set themselves apart from mass production and mass consumption and “celebrate the beauty of imperfection and nature” in their creations.

Laying the foundation

“In 2013, Katie and I (Georg) were on our honeymoon. I was disillusioned with the world of work after many years in large corporations. Similarly, Katie had her first successes as a small goldsmith in a shared studio.” That was the moment they decided to set up Katie g. Jewellery company. “Katie did the designs and the making of all the pieces, while I took care of the marketing, administration and finances.” This intensive understanding of all areas of the company laid “the foundation for our success today”.

A natural development

“We have always prioritized quality over rapid growth and have gradually built up a good and loyal customer base.” In the beginning, they therefore had to “work correspondingly more sparingly and cautiously”, and dealing with larger and more expensive diamonds was a challenge. But thanks to a great network, a great willingness to learn and a love of working with jewelry and their customers, everything developed completely organically.

Every new step they took, “whether it was moving to a larger studio, hiring more staff or investing in a new website with an online store”, ultimately paid off.

The logi(sti)cal decision

“In the beginning, we did all the shipping logistics ourselves. That went well for a while, but we soon realized how much work it entailed,” says Georg, recalling the days of manual shipping. The shipping process, especially taking the parcels to the post office, took up valuable time that could have been better spent on jewelry production. “We soon realized that our time was best spent creating great pieces of jewelry” and therefore decided to automate their logistics.

“Through a Google search, we came across Quivo, and it turned out that Quivo offers so much more” than just shipping. “In addition to the extremely time-saving labeling process, the reduced shipping prices are of course great, and the pick-up by the courier directly from our store is a dream.”

The service is particularly valuable during peak season, when orders increase significantly. “Without Quivo, as a small team with big ambitions, we wouldn't have been able to fulfill many of the orders at our peak.”

Georg Co-Founder Katie g.

“As a self-employed person, you quickly realize that in the course of your work you only spend a small part of your time doing what you set up your own business for - namely making jewelry. A large part of it is spent on administration, personnel issues, legal matters, logistics, purchasing, marketing and so on. QUIVO allows us to focus on making jewelry again, and that is literally worth its weight in gold.”

Uniqueness and sustainable values

Katie g. Jewellery stands out from the crowd with unique designs. In classic jewelry, “everything is perfect, everything is symmetrical and polished”, but her pieces stand out with their irregular, textured style. What's more, they are not interested in traditional sales, but in providing advice. Customers should “buy from Katie g. with a good feeling and, above all, without pressure”.

Their engagement and wedding rings are a particular highlight, says Georg proudly: “Our textured surfaces pick up signs of wear and integrate them into their texture, making the pieces more personal and beautiful the longer you wear them.” A sign of true durability.

The golden future

“Our entire focus is on creating great new pieces of jewelry. We are not planning to open any more stores, but to focus entirely on the product.” They regularly share all their news on their Instagram page. Visit them in person at their Vienna studio or discover their high-quality online store for a sustainable jewelry experience.

Thanks to our support, Katie g. Jewellery was able to refocus her attention on the essentials: the creation of unique, handmade jewelry. By relieving the logistics burden, the company gained valuable time to further its creative goals and continue to create exceptional products.

Quivo's team looks forward to accompanying Katie g. in the future and celebrating further successes together.
