The Soul of Mexican Cuisine
Señor López is Mathyas López's passion project. His love for authentic Mexican food and high quality ingredients has its origins in his childhood. To this day, he recalls the Sundays spent with his whole family, cooking together, and the aroma of his grandmother's favourite dishes. Every time he eats Mexican food now, he feels transported back for a moment: safe, happy, and truly at home.
It all started with his cookbook, Mexico Vegan, in which Mathyas reinterpreted traditional family recipes in a plant based form. Through this process, he realised how difficult it is to find authentic ingredients like dried chillies (such as Guajillo or Ancho) in Germany. To make the real taste of Mexico accessible, he began importing these exact products into the country. Gradually, more ingredients were added, like proper corn tortillas, which are mostly only available as a wheat version here.
That is how Señor López has grown, step by step, driven by the desire to bring the unadulterated flavour of Mexico to Germany. Today, the brand stands for quality, authenticity, and the simple joy of sharing a piece of home.

Initially, Mathyas handled the packaging, storage, and shipping himself to truly understand every step. But the increasing demand meant a bigger workload, and the desire for a professional solution grew.

It was important to him not to run two separate warehouses, but to centrally manage all operations, from the online shop right through to retail. In a short time, Señor López has developed into a brand synonymous with honest flavour and authentic quality. Looking ahead, Mathyas wants to show even more people how versatile and accessible Mexican cuisine can be. New products and recipe ideas are already being planned, including his own range of salsas that will perfectly complement the current selection.
In the summer of 2025, his own spice blends followed, and the original corn tortillas were finally added at the end of the year. Mathyas is particularly proud that the tortillas were a great success at the Anuga trade fair, even winning an award in the “Organic Products” category!
